do what he did, and … do what he did, and for reference to the E, either use a piano / tuning fork, or just tune the e string to whatever sounds ok - and tune the rest of the bass to that.
If you had a song … If you had a song that you knew how to play, which involved the e string (or any other string for that matter, just as long as you knew how to play it) you could have tuned one string to the song, and used any of these two techniques in the video to tune the rest to your tuned string.
