Is it easy to learn how to play the guitar yourself?
I want to play the guitar but i dont know if I should take lessons or learn myself.
Taking lessons won't teach you anything believe it or not. The only thing they teach you are different methods and the names of chords. I learned how to play guitar and bass by myself. If you want to learn the basics and work your way up and if you need help just look up different guitar playing videos on youtube.

if you want to be good and technical you should take lessons. however, i have taught myself how to play and i enjoy just learning songs

If you can really stick to it, you should be able to go for it alone. It's nice to have someone to instruct you, and she you how to do stuff. So, I personally would recommend lessons if you can ge them.

I'd suggest getting with some people you know that can play, and studying online chords and string placement. I tried to teach myself but after a few weeks I saw that I was lacking what I needed most to learn to play the guitar. Structure.

i taught myself, and its not easy at first, but i did it because i liked it, not because it would be easy. ive been playing for four years now and i love playing guitar more than anything. i personally think that you can learn just about as much with the internet than you can with any teacher, i just learned to use tabs.
